I am a recovering amnesiac and I started Shimmerday years ago as part of a memory experiment. Part of my therapy was introducing structure back into my life, so I was lucky to get to walk Shimmer, the greyhound in these photos.
After a few months of walking, I began to take pictures. I wondered if I could capture a single image a day—one significant and unique to me—I would remember all the events of the day.
The experiment didn’t work, but I did find I like taking photos of our walk, and thus: the creation of Shimmerday.
I’m now ready to move on and add words to our daily walks. I used to be a writer in my old life and I hope to be one in this one. The many photos I’ve taken for this blog enabled me to become a much better photographer and I hope by writing about our daily walks, I will become a better writer.
Let’s hope this experiment doesn’t fail!
I won’t be updating this site anymore, but don’t worry, you’ll find new photos, as well as stories and thoughts at my new site, Walking with Shimmer.
I’d like to thank all my followers for their encouragement and to everyone else who has enjoyed Shimmerday.
